Stryder first gained fame performing on pirate radio stations in his early teens, including Deja Vu and Rinse. He became prominent in the underground scene after constantly going on radio and performing live shows with Wiley and Dizzee Rascal, who were prominent figures in grime at the time. He went to a school called PerryFields in Oldbury. Stryder came to prominence first in 2003, winning 'best newcomer' at the Sidewinder awards. Since then he has collaborated with many major artists in the grime genre, including two remixes with The Streets, "Fit But You Know It" and "Prangin Out".
